On Tuesday 14th August 2012, Microsoft released a number of updates which appear to be causing problems with Aunir's Specman software.
Affected systems:
The updates only seem to affect systems with a full version of Microsoft Access installed - systems with on the Access Runtime are unaffected. All versions of Specman are likely to be affected although problems have only been reported for Specman V4. Systems are only affected if the updates are installed.
Symptoms:
Specman V4 - When starting Specman the login screen is displayed as usual, but after entering correct account details a blank grey screen is shown. Some toolbars are displayed correctly but none of the buttons function correctly.
Other versions of Specman - it is expected that other versions of Specman will just display a blank grey screen.
Solutions:
As this problem is caused by the Microsoft updates, removing these should fix the problem. This can either be done using the Windows 'Roll Back' function or by removing the updates manually. it is expected that only one of the updates is causing the problems (KB2687323, KB2687441 or KB2597986 depending on the version of Access installed).
Further information:
Further information about the updates applied on Tuesday can be found at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin.ms12-060. Please contact Aunir for further information abbout how this update affects Specman.
If any further information about this issue becomes available it will be published on the Aunir website.
